Areola

Medical pigmentation for your physical well-being.

A beautiful bust is the hallmark of femininity. After breast surgery, many women consequently lose self-confidence. To help you gain new self-confidence and a better quality of life, the method of medical pigmentation has become increasingly popular in recent years. By drawing the areola, amazing successes are achieved.

Once the plastic surgeon has completed his work after breast surgery, medical pigmentation can then begin. To achieve this, a natural-looking areola is pigmented. The color tone is adjusted to the ideal image.

Light shading increases the natural effect of the imitated nipple.

Areola

An areola drawing is also suitable for correcting scarring caused by breast augmentations and reductions. After a surgical procedure, e.g. breast surgery or breast reconstruction, the areola can be color-matched or completely redrawn and pigmented.

Many women have the areola pigmented darker or larger for aesthetic reasons. The various pigmentation colors offer a wide range of design options.

The surgical scars on the breast itself can be significantly improved using microneedling. In this method, the skin is perforated with a microfine needle with pinpoint accuracy in order to initiate the skin’s regeneration process.

Frequent questions and answers:

Is the treatment painful?

The sensitivity to pain varies greatly from person to person and depends on age as well as skin type. As a rule, the sensitivity of the skin decreases with age. During their period, women can be more sensitive to pain. In the case of areola caused by breast reconstruction, the nerve pathways are usually disturbed, so that there is no sensation at all in the region, i.e. no pain.

To make the treatment as comfortable as possible, an anesthetic ointment is used, which is applied 30 minutes before the procedure.

How long does a treatment take?

In addition to the pigmentation itself, the first treatment includes an intensive consultation as well as measuring and marking. Including the time for the anesthetic ointment to take effect, you need to plan for about 2-2.5 hours.

Post-treatment takes about 1-2 hours, depending on the size of the area to be pigmented.

How many treatments are necessary?

If you are having your areola pigmented for the first time, we recommend 2-3 sessions, sometimes a fourth. The interval between treatments is between 4-6 weeks.

How long does the result last?

The color pigments last about 1-2 years, after which the color slowly fades. It can take several years for the fading to be complete.

Definitive time specifications in terms of how long the treatment will last are not possible. This is influenced by many factors that are individual to each person. These include skin texture (dry or oily), metabolism, habits such as regular visits to the sauna and solarium or sweat-causing sports, and peelings.

To maintain a perfect color result, a touch-up is recommended after one year.

How much does pigmentation cost?

Each areola is different, and often scars resulting from the surgery can be treated at the same time using microneedling. Therefore, a price can be determined only after the consultation.

In the case of medically injected treatment, cost coverage by the health insurance can be applied for.

Cost of Refresher:
Refreshing after 1 year: 1/3 of the new price
Refresh after 2 years: 2/3 of the new price
Refresh after 3 years: New price

What should be observed before pigmentation?

You should be of legal age and healthy at the time of treatment and should not have consumed alcohol, drugs or stimulants. Coffee should be avoided 2 hours before the treatment.

Taking medications such as aspirin or other blood thinners should be avoided on the day of treatment.

If any of the following apply, please consult your doctor beforehand:
Are you HIV-infected, diabetic, hemophiliac, cancer patient or allergic? Do you use laser/chemical peels? Do you use a Retin A/peel treatment? Are you pregnant or currently breastfeeding? Do you use a pacemaker? Do you suffer from acute herpes simplex (cold sores), skin irritations/skin disorders, immune deficiency or autoimmune diseases?

What should be observed after pigmentation?

Following the pigmentation, the areola is bandaged with sterile gauze to protect it on your way home. Already in the evening you may remove the compresses and should then ideally wear a loose cotton T-shirt without underwear, so that enough air gets to the treated areas.

Avoid water contact for the first 2-3 days. Use a shower patch or engage in light zonal washing.

As soon as healing has begun and a light scab forms, you have the option of using the original SwissColor care ointment Grazia. It supports the healing and makes the skin nice and soft.

For 1-2 weeks after the treatment you should avoid direct sun and solarium. Sauna, swimming pool or sweat-causing sports are also taboo.
